My new PC

After assembling a lot of PC's for my friends, I finally can effort me my own new PC. I wanted to buy it when I start working, but I can't wait any longer. So here is the configuration of my new masterpiece.

Thats it, I'm looking forward to it, should arrive on Wednesday.
For those people who ask, why I'm using AMD when Intel's performance is better (at the moment), I already described that issue here.

I decided to buy me a high-end graphic card this time. The HD3870 X2 is a dual GPU card with two HD3870 graphical processor units on it. It is nearly the same when you put two single HD3870 cards in the system and run them in crossfire mode. But the X2 performance should be a bit better, when all the reviews I read so far are true.

The graphic card looks like this:



I would say, it's a monster ;)
And for normal users or "sometimes" gamers it is too hardcore, the HD3870 will do it for those people. Martin for example is very happy with his card and he is playing a lot, also Assassines Creed, which is one of the newest games with high graphical performance needs.
I don't know why, but this time I want a "dual-GPU" card, because this is the age of multiprocessor PCs ;)

Of course you can wait until the new generation of graphic cards will appear. The release should be at the end of June or at the beginning of July. But as the past tells me, new cards are always more expensive for some month. And the dual GPU cards will be released later anyway. So maybe it is better to buy the actual cards, because they will get cheaper when the new generation is released. (ATI's new generation will be the 4800 family based on RV700 chipset)

As you can see, theoretically it is possible to put four graphic cards in it ;)
But be aware, if you put two cards of the above mentioned card HD3870 X2 in you PC, you already need a 700+W power supply ;) have fun !!

Yet another QuadCore

Yesterday I assembled another QuadCore computer, this time it is the one from Andreas, a friend.

However, the components are nearly the same as last time, except CPU, power supply and harddisk + multi dvd burner:

This time the boot process and the setup were not the problem, the problem, in the end, was the DDR2 RAM. Seems that it is unstable with the full 1066MHz, after manually changing it to 800MHz it worked, before that it crashes all the time. We have to bring it back and get new one for those.

Not more news for now, ... before the assembling I was at another job interview, after the assembling I have been to a grillfest organized from our organisation HagenbergerCircle. And yes, I still write on my master thesis.

New PC for Martin

Last week a friend decided that he wants a new PC. Therefor I looked up a possible configuration and sent him details.
He liked it, so he ordered it and finally last weekend I assembled it.
The Thing cost 496€ and its components are:

• AMD Phenom X4 9550 Sockel-AM2+ boxed, 4x 2.20GHz
• Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 Single-Slot, 512MB GDDR4, 2x DVI, TV-out, PCIe 2.0
• Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4, 790X
  
• Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB 16MB
• Kingston KIT 2048MB DDR2 1066
• Power supply 500W

The components are not the most expensive one, but also not the cheapest one. That was one of the challenges. Some will ask, why AMD? The answer is simple. First of all, AMD Quadcore is a real Quadcore, not like Intels 2 * 2 Core. If you want details on that, Google it or visit Parallel Computing at LUT *g*.

But I'm a nice guy, so here are some infos in form of pictures,

Do you see the difference?
Correct! In Intels Quadcore 2 cores always share one Level 2 Cache. And thats why it is not a real Quadcore, it is a 2 * 2 Core.

I know that AMD is at the moment 10% slower than compareable Intels, but I trust in AMD to solve this with a bios update.
Another advantage is the new platform. It supports PCI-e 2.0 and Hyperthreading 3 and it is the only platform which does at the moment.
So, why did I choose ATI card? AMD == ATI, so ATI is best supported on that platform, including Crossfire.

You don't know what Crossfire is, crossfire is the "same" as Nvidias SLI, you can combine the graphical power of two or even four graphic cards, here some pictures for a better understanding:




I wanted to build the components in the old case, but unfortunately the old PC was a microATX board, so was the case. So we used one of the older cases he got. Normally there are not really problems in putting together components, but there have been some in this example.

First the PC booted and the XP Setup started, but I had no Sata driver disk, so I had to start again with the driver floppy. But from there on, it didn't boot anymore, always stopped at startup. So I tried a lot of stuff including a bios update. It worked again and the Setup started, but only until "Windows checks the hardware configuration ....". I again tried some configuration in the bios and in the end it worked.

We installed all the necessary software and very important for Martin, his racing games. The graphic was awesome, it really makes hell lot of difference to before. In the end all took us from lunch at 13 until 23 in the evening....... nice waste of time ;)
I want a QUADCORE TOOOOOOO !!!!! ;(

ENISA published BCM Method and BSI also its

Not everybody knew that ENISA was working on this for quite some time now. However, they published there "Business and IT continuity: Overview and implementation principles" report in February.

I read it and I can say it is quite good. It has for example a useful mapping between the ENISA model and other established BCM-standards. Like the BS25999, which I'm working on in my thesis. However, I will not tell you everything, because if your interested in details, you should read my master-thesis "Process model to implement Risk Management and Business Continuity Management organization wide". I'm working on it, so be patient.

Also the German BSI was working on there catalog number four, which cares about the continuity topic. They published a draft version of 100-4. I also checked this one, but not in detail, so I will not give you a comment about it at the moment.

Presentation for PCClub and new technical stuff

First of all, last Wednesday we did a presentation (in the name of our organization Hagenberger Kreis) for the PC-Club in my hometown. It was the second presentation about IT-Security. This time we had the topic Backup. First I was afraid that the topic is too small and we can not fill the planned 1-1,5h. But as it is, when it comes to presentations, in the end it took 2,5h.

First we presented basics like medias, where and what to backup and so on. Also we explained in details what is and how works incremental, differential and full-backup.
At the end we presented two tools to backup.

The first one was the Vista integrated backup and restore center. For (semi-)professionals I would recommend not to use it. Because it has some really weird things implemented. First of all it is not possible to choose a backup strategy. (increment, differential, full) Vista makes first a full backup and afterwards only incremental backups all the time. So it is not possible to make a full backup every Sunday and in between incremental.

But the weirdest thing is, that you can't really choose a directory or file to backup. Because the only choice you have is to choose a partition or disk and afterwards choose which kind of file types you want to backup. That it definitely strange !!! You don't believe me? Have a look!

However, the restore function has the possibility to restore only one file or a directory. (why not the backup function !!!??)

The second tool was one of my favourite -> Cobian Backup.
It is freeware and it is really good. It has everything you need, except backup on DVD. You can find it here Cobian Backup.
The feature list is really very nice and the upcoming version, which should be published soon, has even more features. But read the feature list on your own, I give you just some key words: FTP, encryption, compression, password, timestamps, files/directories/partitions/disks, and so on and on and on.....

Ok, let's move on to the new technical stuff.
Truecrypt released a new version. Version 5 brings some new stuff, but the most important thing is the pre-boot encryption.
Finally a free software encryption tool has a pre-boot feature. This means that you have to enter a pass phrase at the boot process and if someone steals your PC or hard disk, he can't do anything with it, because it is encrypted. Very nice!!
I will do it as soon as possible, but first I will do a backup of my important data, because there is always a small risk with this kind of software. In the worst case, you can't access the PC on your own *gg*. But it should work, I will give you some Input as soon as I know.

Vista User Account Control issue:
When I put my PC into my domain and "transfered" my local user to a domain user account, I had a problem with the UAC. Everytime it asked me to enter my Admin and password. Not like before just to click at continue, this time I really have to type it all the time.
I lived some time with this issue, until I solved it yesterday. I played with the user accounts and recognized, that my domain user is not in the list of the local users. So I made a new user. There you can say that this user is part of a domain. After I did that, everything worked find as before.

Facebook Security Issues

Facebook is a broadly used and well known community site and I know that a lot of you people outside are using it. I am also a user and therefore I have some suggestions for you to make it more secure.

Lately Facebook made some bad news with tracking the surfing behavior of its users, even when you are not on Facebook.
Nate Weiner made a very nice blog entry, which describes the whole issue in detail. If your are interested in reading it, you will find this blog entry here.

To secure yourself it is not necessary to read the whole article, because I will give you a shortcut what to do right now.

1. First of all, to use this security tools, you have to use Firefox, because the following tool is a plug-in for it.
2. Install the BlockSite add-on / plugin
3. After restarting Firefox, which is necessary to activate it
4. Open the options of the add-on, you can find it in the list of add-ons
5. There you enter this URL to block: http://www.facebook.com/beacon/*
6. Confirm it with ok and be safe

For those people who are not so familiar with Security and FireFox plug-ins, I also would recommend you the following plug-ins, which I'm using and also suggested by the Network Security Blogwriter Martin McKeay:

• NoScript
• which is very good, it protects you from any kind of scripts and ads. It blocks them in default, and you can temporarily or permanent allow sites and scripts. Very useful!
• GreaseMonkey
• is for using user scripts, I would suggest it only for advanced users. It is used to activate some userscripts, for more information you should read the description. As I said, maybe better for advanced users.
  
• CustomizeGoogle
• also suggested by McKeay, and honestly I didn't know it before, but will also use it, sounds very nice.

I'm using some more add-ons, but they are not all just for security.
Use Firefox and use the add-ons from above and you will be much more safer !!

Exchange Student Database and other stuff

After the sauna evening on Tuesday, Wednesday was quite lazy for me. Some guys went swimming to the lake and take afterwards part at the freshman orientation run from the center to the university.

On this orientation run there are some stations where the students have to fulfill some funny tasks. A lot of drinking is necessary and probably someone has to get naked.

First I planned to go there to, but finally i decided not to go. Instead of drinking and partying, I decided to work on our exchange student database. Roman and I planned a database with all the information of all the exchange students at LUT.

Roman provided the resources and I "programmed" the website. Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't like programming, so i made the website with Macromedia's Dreamweaver, because it has a very good support for PHP and MYSQL, just with drag and drop ;)
After some hours of work including the manual input of 125 exchange students, the database was finished. Before we publish it to the exchange students, we will invite some "beta-testers" to test it and we also wanna integrate some security functions and extra features.
You know, perfection is my business!!

Übersetzungstool - Translationtool

Für die daheimgebliebenen, die nicht immer alles auf Deutsch übersetzen wollen, hab ich auf der rechten Seite ein Übersetzungstool eingefügt, welches die ganze Seite auf Deutsch übersetzt. Einfach nur auf die deutsche Fahne klicken.
Dabei zu beachten ist allerdings, das das Deutsch stellenweise sehr schlecht ist, aber um den Sinn des Eintrages zu verstehen sollte es reichen. (Der übersetzte Text ist oftmals sehr lustig *gg*)

Day Nr 10 and end of week Nr 2 of EILC

Yesterday on Friday we did some exercises related to the grammar stuff we did earlier this week. Of course we have learned some new stuff, past tense in Finnish. But this will not be part of the exam, which is already in 4 (!) days.

That's one reason why i skipped the sauna evening (organized from the EILC Team) yesterday, to do some vocabulary. I'm not sure yet, if it was really useful *g*. Whatever, another reason was also my server problem at home. I spent three hours of supporting my friend at home to repair my server. It got broken two days after i have left Austria. So three hours later we found the real problem and hopefully Werner can repair it today, so that the server will go online on the evening. Thanks again to Werner for taking care of my server problems.

Oh, i forgot to mention the presentation we had after lunch. It was about the Kalevala Epic story (german version) (english version)
which is a important part of the Finnish history and culture. I didn't know what it was before this presentation, but i like it, because i like those mythic, magic thingi anyway :)
The influence of the Kalevala is also very present nowadays, you can see and hear it in a lot of different forms. One form is some Finnish music, that for Keisa showed us a video, and i will show you this video too:

Server Status

Hallo, denjenigen die mir E-Mails an meine private Adresse schicken wollen, oder denjenigen die meine Homepage aufgesucht haben, wird aufgefallen sein, dass beides nicht funktioniert. Mein Server ist kurz nach meiner Abreise in die Knie gegangen. Muss warten bis der Werner vom Urlaub retour ist, er wird sich dem Problem annehmen. Bitte einstweilen eine meiner anderen Adressen verwenden, welche ich euch gern auf Anfrage geben werde.

Video und Audio Synchronisieren

Hin und wieder kommt es vor, dass man eine Videodatei erhält, bei der der Audiokanal nicht synchron ist zum Video. Dasselbe ist mir eben wieder einmal passiert und da man in den Ferien ja Zeit hat, dass man sich um sowas auch kümmern kann, hab ich mich mal a bissi schlau gemacht.

Dabei bin ich auf folgenden Guide gestossen, den ich hiermit auch gleich mal empfehlen möchte:

Digitale Signatur E-Card / Bankomatkarte

Endlich ist es soweit! Nach langem, anfänglichen Zögern hab ich mich entschlossen die Digitale Signatur zu beantragen.

Am heimischen Markt gibt es zwei Sorten von Digitalen Signaturen, die Digitale Signatur der E-Card (Verwaltungssignatur) und die Digitale Signatur der Bankomat/Mastercard (Qualifiziertes Zertifikat)

Wo also liegt der Unterschied und was braucht man:

E-Card Verwaltungssignatur:
Der erste entscheidende Unterschied ist der, dass die Digitale Signatur der E-Card gratis ist. Man muss dazu nur zur Gebietskrankenkasse fahren und ca. 20 Minuten investieren. Danach hat man eine voll funktionsfähige Digitale Signatur.
Was kann man also damit machen?
Sämtlichen Behördenverkehr (welcher technisch möglich ist), auch unter dem Namen E-Government bekannt, kann damit durchgeführt werden. Beispiele dafür sind Lohnsteuerausgleich, Wohnbeihilfe, Stipendium, Sozialversicherung, usw.....
Ein Praxisbeispiel ist die E-Government Seite der Stadt Steyr.
Man kann KEIN Online-Banking damit machen, bzw. nichts wo ein qualifiziertes Zertifikat benötigt wird.

Bankomat-/MasterCard Qualifiziertes Zertifikat:
Die ECHTE Digitale Signatur.
Diese Variante kostet 12 Euro für die Aktivierung und 15 Euro jährliche Gebühr. Um die Registrierung vorzunehmen muss man eine Registrierungsstelle aufsuchen. Das sind beispielsweise die BawagP.S.K, Media Markt und Saturn. Bis auf die Bawag ist nirgends ein vorheriger Termin notwendig. Die Ausfertigung dauert in etwa 15 Minuten.
Was kann diese Form des Digitalen Signaturzertifikats:
Zuerst einmal alles was die E-Card Signatur auch kann. Also jeglichen Behördenverkehr. ABER die Karte kann auch Online-Banking, bzw. alle Dienste die ein qualifiziertes Zertifikat benötigen.
(Qualifiziertes Zertifikat == Rechtlich wie eine händische Unterschrift)

Zu guter Letzt braucht man noch einen Kartenleser. Alle Registrierungsstellen haben KEINEN Kartenleser auf Lager, was sehr enttäuschend ist. Nach langer Suche hab ich dann im Post-Shop einen Kartenleser gefunden. Die Post bietet drei Varianten an. Die Basisvariante ReinerSCT cyberJack pinpad ohne Mate Suite kostet 28 Euro, Reiner SCT cyberJack pinpad mit Mate Suite 45 Euros und zu Guter Letzte die Luxusvariante Reiner SCT cyberJack e-com mit Mate Suite und Display 99 Euros. Ich hab mich für die teuereste Variante entschieden. Weil es noch einmal einen Level sicherer ist und auch für zusätzliche Dinge geschaffen ist.

Online-Banking ist nun mit Digitaler Signatur per Bankomatkarte möglich. Diese Form des Online-Bankings ist die sicherste Variante die es derzeit gibt. Kann ich jedem empfehlen der Online-Banking betreibt.

Mein ServerTagebuch - Folge 4 oder so

Hab schon länger nichts mehr über meine Wehwehchen, welche mir mein Server zu Hause verursacht berichtet. Deshalb wird es wieder mal Zeit euch auf den Aktuellstand zu bringen.

Tatsache ist, mein Server läuft zu 95% so, wie ich es mir vorstelle :)
Exchange ist jetzt so konfiguriert, dass E-Mail empfangen und senden auf meinen Domainnamen funktioniert, dass Synchronisierung über Exchange Konto auf meinem Laptop funktioniert, dass Synchronisierung über Exchange Konto auf meinem Handy funktioniert und zu Guter Letzt noch meine Homepage und mein FTP Server am Laufen sind.

Bin also recht zufrieden. Wenns die Zeit zu lässt, werd ich mal einen kleinen Konfigurationsleitfaden für den Exchange schreiben, da man mit Dingen konfrontiert wird, mit denen man unmöglich rechnen kann.

Hier mal ein paar Beispiele: Will man Exchange Konto auf Handy nutzen (Mit dem Programm "Mail for Exchange" -> Nokia E61 beispielsweise), darf Form-Based OWA nicht aktiv sein und intern im Netzwerk darf der Exchange kein HTTPS fahren. (Von Außen nur per HTTPS, bis zur Firewall, danach halt ohne). Der Rest allerdings bis zum Exchange selbst nur per HTTPS erreichbar.
Will man im Outlook ein Exchange Konto einrichten, sollte (muß) man das auf jedenfall nur über RPC over HTTPS realisieren. Damit ist es nicht notwendig die ganzen benötigten Ports nach außen zu öffnen. Und so weiter und so fort....
Mal sehen, ob mir Zeit bleibt so einen Guide zu schreiben.

Wie gesagt, alles läuft super. Einzigen offenen Punkte sind noch: VPN Zugang, VPN nach Außen erlauben, SecureFTP. Auch das wird alles noch realisiert.

Vorsicht vor WinServer 2003 SP2 und ISA 2004

Um euch den Fehler zu ersparen, den ich gerade gemacht habe, werd ich euch hier aufklären. Vorsicht wenn ihr das Service Pack 2 vom Windows Server 2003 installierts, auf dem Rechner, auf dem ihr auch den ISA 2004 installiert habts. Es ist einiges zu beachten bevor ihr das machts, sonst gehts euch so wie mir.

Was ihr beachten müssts, möcht ich aus dem ISABlog zitieren:

"1. If you run ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition with or without the ISA Server SP2, you must install ADAM SP1 on the ISA Server Configuration Storage Server prior to installing the Windows Server 2003 SP2. ADAM SP1 can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9688F8B9-1034-4EF6-A3E5-2A2A57B5C8E4&displaylang=en.
If you install Windows Server 2003 SP2 without first installing the ADAM SP1, ISA Server will not start after the installation, and you will have to uninstall Windows Server 2003 SP2. Further information is available in the Windows Server 2003 SP2 release notes, at http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/ed5382af-e819-4d33-ace0-225d31b7ab751033.mspx?mfr=true .

2. If you run ISA Server 2000, 2004 or 2006 Standard or Enterprise editions on a multi-core / multi-processor 32-bit computer, and the CPU is heavily utilized, you might experience performance degradation in certain deployment scenarios after installing Windows Server 2003 SP2. The issue stems from a change in interrupt handling introduced in SP2.
To correct the issue you must download and run the Interrupt Affinity Tool (intfiltr) available in Windows Server 2003 resource kit (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&DisplayLang=en).
You can read about installation and usage of intfiltr.exe in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/252867.

3. If your network adaptors (NICs) support receive-side scaling (RSS), then in certain NAT scenarios ISA Server 2000, 2004 or 2006 Standard or Enterprise editions might not transfer packets from one NIC to the other after installation of Windows Server 2003 SP2.
To correct the issue you must disable RSS support ­­- follow the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;927695.

Um es zusammen zu fassen, erst einmal das ADAM SP1 installieren, DANACH erst das SP2 für den Windows Server. Sonst is alles Scheiße, so wie bei mir halt :)

Bemerkbar macht sich das Ganze übrigens durch folgende Erscheinungen:
1) Man kann nicht mehr zur Storage Configuration Database connecten.
2) Im Event Viewer wird vom Service Microsoft Firewall der Event mit der ID 14147 und in Folge daraus Event IDs 21265 und 14001 getriggert.

Mein Server und guten Rutsch

Wie man unschwer erkennen kann, hab ich irgendwie in den Ferien weniger Zeit zu bloggen als sonst :)

Der Titel heißt mein Server, deshalb ein paar News dazu:
Aufbau:

• DomainController mit CA, DHCP, DNS
• TrendMicro OfficeScan AntivirenServer
• ISA 2004
• Exchange
• Web, FTP

hatte alles, bis auf den Exchange, schon im Studentenheim installiert und aktiviert und hat auch funktioniert. Wie es halt so ist, als ich ihn daheim in Betrieb genommen hätte, hat plötzlich nix mehr funktioniert. Das hat mit dem ISA angefangen und is beim DomainController weitergegangen. Was mich zu guter Letzt dazu gebracht hat, beide nocheinmal neu zu machen, bääh.

Wobei der DomainController relativ rasch ging, beim ISA hats ma a bissi "einigschissn". Weiß nämlich das Passwort für den Storage nicht mehr. Jetzt kann ich ihn weder konfigurieren noch deinstallieren, LOL, sag ich da nur.

Naja, muss bis ins neue Jahr jetzt warten, weil heute ist Silvester und den werd ich zusammen mit ein paar Freunden feiern. Zuerst mal Fondue Essen beim Werner und Familie mit Rainer und Birgit. Da ich annehme, dass es nicht langweilig wird, wird es ein demenstprechend langer Abend, und falls doch der Wunsch nach Änderung auftaucht gibts ja noch die Einladung vom Werner. Mal sehen.

Allen auf jedenfalls einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr und nehmt euch nicht zuviel vor, liegt eh nur an euch und nicht am neuen Jahr :)

Tivoli TCM und TSCM Installation

Ein Nachtrag zum Freitag, hab vor lauter Arbeit noch keine Zeit gehabt das zu posten.

Am Freitag haben wir in der Arbeit unsere Network Admission Control Testumgebung um zwei Tivoli Produkte erweitert. Und zwar um den Tivoli Configuration Manager (TCM) und dem Tivoli Security Compliance Manager (TSCM).

Um die zwei Produkte kurz zu beschreiben:
TSCM: ist dazu da, eine am Server definierte Security Policy umzusetzen bzw. den Client auf konformität zu überprüfen. In so einer Policy kann man bis ins letzte Detail alles abfragen, beispielsweise ob eine Software installiert ist, eine bestimmte Datei vorkommt, und und und ...

TCM: ist hauptsächlich für die Softwareverteilung zuständig. Eigentlich ein ganz nettes Ding. Man kann entweder per Force das Update erzwingen, man kann downloaden und später updaten, man kann update auf später verschieben, und und und...

Natürlich ist der Feature Umfang noch bedeutend größer als hier beschrieben, wenns interessiert kann er ja im Internet nachlesen.

Auf jedenfall waren für die Installation zwei Spezialisten aus Wien anwesend, denen ich von hier aus nochmal danken möchte. Hat echt Spass gemacht und war sehr lehrreich. Super Kollegen btw.

Der TSCM war im Prinzip schon aktiv, allerdings gab es hin und wieder Problem mit der Auswertung bzw. dem Policy Update, bzw. der NAC Kompatibilität allgemein. Nachdem wir uns etwas genauer damit auseinandergesetzt haben, dh. server config file manuell geändert, client preferences file manuell getunet, lauft jetzt alles einwandfrei. Als Beispiel haben wir WinZip installiert bzw. deinstalliert. Wir setzen also Winzip voraus für einen konformen Client. Ist es nicht installiert, kommt man ins Quarantäne VLAN, ist es installiert ist man healthy. Ist man bereits healthy und man deinstalliert es, ist man im spätestens nach 1 Minute im Quarantäne VLAN und umgekehrt. Funktioniert wunderprächtig!

Beim TCM gab es anfangs ein paar Schwierigkeiten, die DB2 wollte nicht so wie sie eigentlich sollte. Hatten dann noch irgendwelche Passwortkompatibilitätsprobleme usw.... . Später lief sie dann, allerdings tritt nachwievor noch das problem auf, wenn man lokal auf die DB2 mit dem GUI zugreift hat man 99% CPU Auslastung, übers Netzwerk funktionierts einwandfrei, komisch.

Wie auch immer, unser Spezialist hat das aber am Freitag noch alles super hinbekommen, und die Softwareverteilung, natürlich verteilen wir unser Winzip Paket, funktioniert einwandfrei. Gut gemacht !

Einziges offenes Thema, welches hoffentlich bald gelöst wird ist, wie sprechen die Agents vom TSCM und vom TCM miteinander. Dh. der TSCM soll dem TCM sagen, dass Winzip fehlt, und der TCM soll es automatisiert installieren. Man könnte zwar mit Skripting usw. was manuell lösen, allerdings sind wir im festen Glauben, dass es eine Schnittstelle gibt. Mal sehen was da noch rauskommt.

Auf jedenfall ist es jetzt eine komplette Rundumlösung und wir sind den anderen wieder mal eine Nasenlänge voraus, hooray !

Umstieg von Thunderbird auf Outlook

Ich wollt nun von Thunderbird auf den Microsoft Outlook umsteigen, weil mein Handy nur mit Outlook oder Lotus Notes reden kann. Da für mich die Termine überlebenswichtig sind hab ich mich entschlossen nach langer Zeit wieder umzusteigen.

Allerdings klingt das leichter als es eigentlich ist. Will man nämlich die Mails aus dem Thunderbird mitnehmen muss man einiges beachten. Ein guter Guide findet sich hier.

Es hat bei mir übrigens nicht geklappt, weil das genannten Tool "imapsize" die Thunderbird Dateien irgendwie nicht fertig umgewandelt hat. Es hat zwar alles gmacht und gab auch keinen Fehler, nur irgendwie war keine Datei da :)
Jetzt hab ich mich halt entschlossen beide Mail-Clients zu verwenden und nur die Termine bzw. die FH-Adresse (wenn notwendig) über Outlook zu managen. Schweres Los.
